Promoting Equity and Justice Through Integrated Schools and Communities
Jennifer B. Asycue & Erica Frankenberg
Chapter nine details the impact that integrated schools and communities have on creating more equitable opportunities for children from all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
“Schools and communities are interrelated; therefore, a comprehensive and collaborative plan for creating and sustaining integration in both communities and schools is needed. Our country could work toward dismantling some of the racist structures [through policies] that have inequitably distributed access and opportunities to White students and residents while denying students and residents of color the justice deserved.”
