Chapter eight focuses on the environmental characteristics that can define neighborhoods and their connection to academic outcomes for students.

Students attending high risk publish schools for exposure to harmful pollutants are significantly more likely to be eligible for free-reduce price meals and to be Latinx, Black or Asian/Pacific Islander and less likely to be white. Additionally, schools serving the youngest students have greater levels of risks than schools serving older students.”
