Starting in School: Education Policies to Dismantle Systemic Racism

Chapter six explains that school transformation is a difficult process without the inclusion of education policy centered on race-conscious knowledge and addressing the conditions of systemic racism in and outside of schools.

The salience of systemic racism creates a more intense set of realities that puts certain students at a considerable disadvantage when it comes to educational equity. Education cannot improve wholesale until those who have been most affected by cumulative disadvantage have equity-minded policies that are dedicated to improving their educational experiences and outcomes.”
