Making Children a National Priority: Overcoming the Marginalization and Invisibility of Children
Bruce Lesley
Chapter three emphasizes the lack of children’s voice and agency within politics and policy, arguing children must become more visible within our society and to policymakers.
“There is often latent sympathy and support for children in our society. To achieve success in and out of schools, we must be attentive to and devise ways to overcome key political and society barriers, including making children visible to policymakers and in society....We must help the media, the public and government understand “every policy issue is a children’s issue,” and there is a role that parents, government, and children play in addressing them.”
